In addition to the research activities conducted independently, Priberam has also pursued an R&D strategy in cooperation with universities, institutes and companies, from Portugal and abroad. Although most of these activities is strictly business scope, others are developed within national and international projects.
In recent years, Priberam participated in the following European projects: TRUST (Text Retrieval Using Semantic Technologies), M-CAST (Multilingual Content Aggregation System based on the TRUST Search Engine) and OpenSem and mobilizer program with TECNOVOZ in the technology area of speech.
Past projects also include Discooperio, a project to develop new search technologies, aggregation, summarization and personalized presentation of content; and Quaero, a program focused on the analysis, classification and usage of digital multimedia content for professionals and consumers.
Since early 2016, Priberam is actively involved in SUMMA. This project, in collaboration with 8 other partners, has the objective to provide a media monitoring platform capable of dealing with large volumes of data across many languages and different media types. In this project, Priberam is responsible to provide natural language technologies to improve the state-of-art in tasks like story clustering, entity extraction, automatically knowledge base construction, semantic parsing, summarization, sentiment identification and others.
